The Australian Government is investing in the education, skills and training of our young people to boost the productivity and prosperity of our nation for future generations.

The Commonwealth Government is committing funding of $14.7 billion over three years to provide new facilities and refurbishments in Australian schools to meet the needs of 21st century students and teachers. BER begins with an education vision that looks at the long term needs of the area and the community focusing on buildings that provide an inspiring and flexible learning environment.

Within the BER program there are various recommendations and conditions of funding, these include the use of Design Templates and the adoption of Sustainable building principles.

School buildings need to provide environments that enhance educational achievement, encourage pupil 'ownership' and develop feelings of community and citizenship.
