University Science & Research Buildings Select Kingspan Insulated Panels
for Minimalist, Energy Efficient Exterior Cladding
|
Project: UTS Ultimo
Location: Sydney
Product: KS1000 MR (Micro-Rib)
Architect: DesignInc
Building: Education
Kingspan insulated panels were selected for the
exterior cladding of a new two story high central
plant room for the $100 M UTS Science and
Research Building at their Broadway campus in
Sydney. A versatile product, the panels
were installed vertically. The plant room straddled
two buildings, one an existing stock and the other
a new addition. The plant room houses air
handling equipment, water tanks, electrical
equipment, and other university facilities
Ghislain Coulon, Project Team Leader for DesignInc:
"DesignInc selected Kingspan insulated panels for
two main reasons. The first was an aesthetic
choice. We wanted to achieve a smart minimalistic
and contemporary look for the top of what is termed
Building 4 as the building is over looked by the
adjoining UTS Tower and the ABC Studios. The
second was a functional decision that related to the
panels providing an energy efficient means to
ensure a stable temperature controlled environment.
This was essential for the requirements of the
functions housed in this enclosure We found them
very well designed, easy to use, with installation
well supported by the technical team at Kingspan."
Mr Coulon: "The panels would also be suitable for
facades or indeed roofs of auditoriums, libraries and
halls, places that house large spaces as they have
a very wide span and avoid the tin shed effect
which is often the outcome when using profiled
metal sheets."
